Message from the Principal

At Oak Ridge, we are proud to welcome, teach, and care for students in grades 3–6. We feel truly fortunate to guide children during these wonderful years as they form friendships, grow academically, and develop confidence as independent learners. Our goal is to create a safe, nurturing environment where students feel comfortable taking academic risks and know they are supported by their classmates and by our compassionate, dedicated staff.

A core part of who we are is our commitment to the tenets of deeper learning. We believe students thrive when they are actively engaged, explore meaningful questions, and have opportunities to connect their learning to real life. Through hands-on projects, collaboration, student voice and choice, and authentic learning experiences, we work to make school both joyful and relevant. This approach strengthens critical thinking, creativity, communication, and community connection—skills that help our students grow not just as learners, but as thoughtful members of the world around them.

We are grateful to welcome students who come to us with a strong foundation from Forestdale, and equally thankful for our close partnership with Sandwich Middle High School as we prepare students for a rich and exciting 7–12 experience. “Sandwiched” between these two wonderful schools, and supported by exceptional district leadership, we truly treasure the four years we get to spend with each Oak Ridge student.

Warm Regards,
Anna Dunphy
